Located on Madrid’s Plaza de la Independencia, SOLO Independencia is the main venue of the SOLO project and houses the SOLO Collection, which comprises more than 1,200 works of contemporary art.

The venue showcases a permanent selection of works from Colección SOLO, presented alongside a programme of temporary exhibitions that changes once a year. These exhibitions offer different perspectives on the collection, allowing artworks to be recontextualised and shown in dialogue with each other.
Visits are always guided, providing insight into both the works on display and the broader curatorial framework. With over 1,200 pieces by artists from around the world, the collection reflects a wide range of media and themes.
The building was designed by Juan Herreros and received the COAM Architecture Prize in 2018. Its layout was conceived to evolve alongside the collection, offering flexible spaces that accommodate both long-term installations and rotating displays.
This architectural versatility allows the collection to be presented through multiple narratives and exhibition formats, reinforcing its dynamic and research-driven nature. The design also supports the collection’s commitment to accessibility and curatorial experimentation.
Visits to SOLO Independencia are by appointment only and always include a guided tour. In addition to its regular exhibitions, the venue can be booked for private meetings and corporate events.
