Laura Lagraña

Artistically known as Culitomatón, Laura Lagraña pursued advanced studies in Illustration, Ceramics, and Sculpture at the IAE Pau Gargallo de Badalona. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in the playful and the absurd, using color and form to defy the often gray and chaotic nature of everyday life. With a whimsical and almost childlike approach, her ceramic pieces and illustrations invite viewers into a world governed by its own set of fantastical rules.

Lagraña’s creative process begins with drawing, serving as a means to channel ideas, thoughts, and references. These initial sketches evolve autonomously through color, interaction, and identification, developing their own narrative. Ceramics then become the medium of choice for materialization, giving physical presence to her characters—adding a back, a belly button, or a tangible texture. The glazing and materiality further transform these creations, distancing them from their original sketches. Rooted in both mythology and childhood tales, her work embraces joy and magic, translating 2D illustrations into a vibrant and tangible parallel universe where worries and sadness simply do not belong.
